There’s been a lot of speculation about what Marvel projects will be released this year, and a new post on Marvel’s Japanese website appears to have confirmed that What if…? season 2 and Secret Invasion will be among the TV series releases on Disney+ this year. With Spider-man: No Coming Home and Hawk Eye ending 2021 for Marvel on a massive high, all eyes immediately turned to what’s next for the MCU, and it’s now been all but confirmed that there is indeed a lot to come in the next 12 months, making it another epic year for Marvel fans.

The closing of the infinity saga in 2019 set up an uncertain future for the MCU, with the huge box office results of Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home leaving fans with questions about what could possibly happen next that would keep the momentum going. The Covid pandemic has certainly given Marvel some breathing room, as rather than heading straight into Phase Four, fans have waited a long time to see where the MCU was headed next, but we now know that, with many new characters and returnees, the franchise’s biggest novelty is the introduction of the multiverse.

Now it looks like we’ve received an exact timeline of what will fill the gaps between multiverse adventures coming in 2022, and it all seems to start with Moon Knightarrived in March. If the release schedule holds, we’ll see She-Hulk, I’m Groot and What if…? season 2 arriving between the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in May and Thor: Love and Thunder in July, followed by Ms. Marvel and Secret Invasion between Thor and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in November. Many of these shows were already known or talked about, but the biggest benefit is the confirmation of the second season of What if…? and the Samuel L. Jackson-directed Secret Invasion both will arrive this year.

What if…? and Secret Invasion will have many ties to other Marvel projects

And if... ? Didn't stop production and is still on schedule at Disney+

marvel’s What if…? is probably one of the easiest series for Marvel Studios to produce as its animated format saves the cast from having to travel for filming, with most voiceovers currently being recorded remotely due to the Covid pandemic. While there’s no idea what story will be told this time around, there’s a good chance it’ll be tied to the events of the strange doctor sequel which will be released just before the series.

Secret Invasion started production late last year, around the same time as Wonders also kicked off the shoot. The project is one of the biggest stories and ambitious projects in Marvel’s TV outing, but there has been a near-complete lockdown on any details or leaks arising during the filming of the series. Currently, all that has been seen are social media posts from Jackson, who has frequently shared images of himself in various clothes on his Twitter account.

While times are still tough, and there’s no guarantee we won’t see further delays to release dates, this latest information seems like the most concrete news ever on what 2022 has in store for the MCU. .
