Thank you very much,” says SixTONES member Jesse. “TOWN is an album based on concepts such as “city” and “time”, and we think it’s an interesting package filled with the appeal of the band that is different from our debut album. It’s a great honor to have the music we worked so hard on as SixTONES recognized in this way, and it also reminded us to keep working even harder from now on. We will continue to do our best to bring the music of SixTONES to even more people in the future!

With a total of eight songs and two EPs on the mid-year charts, strength in streaming (#1) and downloads (#3), as well as strong performance in video views (#6), karaoke (#6), CD sales (#12), and Twitter mentions (#18), the pair have become top performer again after being crowned in last year’s mid-year countdown.

I’m thrilled,” says producer Ayase. “Last year we were top of the mid-year chart, but we finished second on the year-end list, which was really disappointing. Over the past six months, ‘Mr.’ was our only new release, so I’m surprised and happy at the same time. There weren’t too many opportunities for people to meet YOASOBI compared to before, so I’m really happy that so many people listened to us in these circumstances.

Singer ikura adds, “I am also surprised and happy. When I look at the charts, THE BOOK and THE BOOK 2 are still there, and I really feel like a lot of people have been listening to them for a long time. It makes me so happy.”

Yuuri comes in at No. 2 with five songs charting on the Japan Hot 100, and BTS follows at No. 3 with hits like “Butter” (No. 9 on the mid-year chart) and “Dynamite” (No. 12). ) still going strong.

The first half of the year was characterized by long-running hits benefiting from the synergy of high-profile links, as well as a rush of newcomers, including Macaroni Enpitsu’s “Nandemonaiyo” (No. 5), “Cinderella Boy” by Saucy Dog (#7) and “W/X/Y” by Tani Yuuki (#17), whose songs were unlinked but catapulted to virality via TikTok, then garnering streams and downloads on major platforms. This year’s half-year results are fascinating in that they visualize the rapid expansion of a market inaccessible by existing strategies.
